Allegedly, a sneaker reseller from Florida has been accused of purchasing over $200,000 dollars worth of extremely limited Nike "Sample" Sneakers. Court documents reflect that the sneakers were purchased from employees at Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon.
Technically speaking, the limited sneakers are known within Nike as "Look / See" production samples. The sneakers were ordered from a Nike factory in China and then allegedly distributed to Jason Michael Keating, 35, of Sanibel, Florida. Keating would resell the sneakers to businesses in Oregon, California, Florida, New York and New Jersey.
Interestingly enough, another oddity within this story is the BUYER has been arrested and charged, although, the Nike employees were not. Law enforcement officials state the investigation is on going, while Nike has refused to comment at this time.
Things are REAL in the sneaker community, and it seems to me that the high demand for exclusive sneakers has created a world of capitalism, and even those at the highest ranks haven fallen victim to the hype. We can look at the glass half full or half empty, but we "Can't Knock The Hustle".
